Are you also trying to leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve your workforce productivity like many organisations across the world?

While some 600 organisations have already been testing and experimenting with this generative AI since May, many have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on this AI-powered assistant for their employees.

So, how does Copilot for Microsoft 365 help you differentiate your business outcomes from the others in your industry? How does it enable you to grow by leveraging Microsoft’s cutting-edge generative AI for work?

In this Inspire 2023 blog, we explain what this Copilot is, lay down all its new developments, and describe how it will transform your daily document workflows.

Introducing the New Microsoft 365 Copilot Pricing

At this year’s Inspire, the tech giant announced a new pricing model for its Microsoft 365 Copilot. Very soon, it will be generally available for $30 (£23.32) per month per user.
But there are some licensing requirements there. Only those organisations using Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium will be able to use Microsoft 365 Copilot. So, if you don’t already have one of these licences, you can talk to one of our experts. That way you can prepare your organisation to adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot when its broadly available.

Also note that it only supports cloud-based users. So, for hybrid use cases, it will not be available for the Office 365 users. And if you rely on third-party identity management apps, you also need to have Azure Active Directory.

What is Microsoft 365 Copilot capable of?

Copilot works across all Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. With its powerful feature that allows it to tap into your internal company data and the internet, Copilot is obviously a game-changer for your business. It enhances your productivity by saving time and adding efficiency to your documentation processes. However, it functions differently on different apps.

  • In Excel, it analyses your data, finds trends and hidden patterns, and creates new sheets and graphs. It can even reason how the outcomes came to be.
  • In Word, it can help you create first drafts of documents, rewrite or reword paragraphs, enhance tone, and summarise texts.
  • In PowerPoint, Copilot auto-generates presentations based on your Word documents and business data. It can also add speaker notes to the slides.
  • In Outlook, it can summarise long email threads and draft replies with appropriate tone as well as flag important emails.
  • In Teams, Copilot comes in handy for communications, planning agendas and organising discussion. It also summarises meeting reports even if you weren’t present. What’s more, it can even tell you the mood of the meeting, provide insights into decisions and actions plans, and create tables defining everyone’s roles.

How Does Copilot Work?

Unlike many generative AI tools that provide a single functionality, Microsoft 365 Copilot comes with multiple capabilities. These include auto-summarisation of meetings and auto-creation of documents and presentations. Its answers and responses are grounded in your business data from documents, calendar, chats, emails, and meetings. That way, you always have relevant and contextual responses to your questions.

Copilot is trained on large language models that tap into zillions of non-proprietary conversational data. That enables it to understand the meaning and context of your queries. Additionally, it accesses your internal data and the web to further contextualise what you get. And all that comes with an integrated user experience, allowing you to remain in the flow of your work. That means less disruptions and distractions.

Is Microsoft 365 Copilot Secure?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an enterprise-ready solution for your business. Why? Because it’s built on Microsoft’s trusted and comprehensive approach to organisational security, privacy, and compliance based on its responsible AI practices

That means your business data is always under your control. Every bit of information is logically isolated and protected within your Microsoft 365 tenant even when accessing the web content. So are your prompts and queries along with the Copilot-generated results. This implies that none of your business data and prompts are used to train the Copilot’s AI. What’s more, it also respects individual and group permission policies at the tenant level.
